Davos, located in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, is the highest town in Europe at 1,560 meters above sea level and known for its alpine sports and outdoor activities. In winter, it offers over 300 kilometers of ski slopes shared with neighboring Klosters, along with cross-country trails and Europe’s largest natural ice rink. In summer, the same mountains transform into hiking and mountain biking routes, including the panoramic Jakobshorn and Parsenn areas. The Schatzalp funicular, built in 1899, still carries visitors up the slope to a historic hotel and alpine botanical garden with over 3,000 species of high-altitude plants.

The town has a strong cultural side as well. The Kirchner Museum houses the work of German expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, who lived and painted in Davos after fleeing World War I. His bold, colorful style often features local scenery and life in the mountains. Concerts, film festivals, and traditional alpine events also take place throughout the year, adding a cultural layer to a destination known primarily for sport and politics.
